Over 2,000 images were entered in PPA's first-ever digital contest--the Summer Shootout--launched in July. Featuring five categories and a grand prize winner, the contest also offered critiques from master photographers for an additional nominal fee.
"The critiques were very popular," says Dennis Craft, M.Photog.Cr.Hon.M.Photog., API, F-ASP, chairman of PPA's Photographic Exhibition Committee. "We are excited to see so many PPA members take advantage of this new opportunity to participate in a contest and learn more about competition elements and techniques from master photographers." Those who purchased critiques should receive them by mid-December.
Images entered in the Summer Shootout cannot have earned merits or a PPA seal of approval in any previous PPA or affiliate photographic competition.
The winners, who receive cash prizes, include the following:
We'd like to congratulate all our winners and say thanks to everyone who participated in the Summer Shootout.

Wow, what an honor!!! Some awesome images and excellent competition. I am proud to be among the winners with such excellent work. So much inspiration in the world if we just look for it and one image can inspire others if we develop the art of telling a story.
I have to owe my inspiration to the many talented people that I have had the privilege of working with. For my image I also want to thank Peyton the model and Nicole Moan, the designer of the ceramic corset and the beautiful bathroom ceramic tile work that you see in the background. Some of the best work results from a dedicated team.
I am excited for future competitions as my new work is taking influence from Da Vinci, other Renaissance artists, Norman Rockwell and exploring some special themes.
Congratulations to all the winners and thank you PPA for putting together such an excellent competition. Wishing everyone much inspiration, creativity and awesome results. Happy Holidays and a Most Wonderful New Year to you all.
Sincerely,
Bryan Crump
