Entered the IPC for the First Time? Watch This Critique to See How it Works!

By Chris Homer

While the deadline to enter images in PPA's International Photographic Competition (IPC) has passed, we want to encourage you to stream the judging live and check out the IPC Live broadcasts, tune in July 30 - August 2 at Stream.theIPC.org for the judging and IPC Live on Facebook.com/OurPPA from July 31 - August 2. Check out this post for full details and the schedule!

The IPC is PPA's annual photographic competition that allows photographers from across the globe to test their skills, and get advice on how to improve quality, impact, and technique through constructive competition and image critiques from qualified jurors.

Through participating in the IPC, you get the opportunity to:

Improve upon your finest work
Earn recognition and admiration from your peers
Engage with the passionate and supportive photographic competition community
And market up your business!

If you've never entered the IPC before or watched the judging live, you may be curious to see what kind of comments the judges make on photographs. That's why we're continuing to share critiques from last year's competition! Remember, if you choose to have your images critiqued, a judge will explain how each of your images, specifically, stacks up against the 12 elements of a winning photograph, and any possible ways you can improve to obtain a higher score. So be sure to order a critique at any future PPA District Competitions or IPC's you enter!

Below is Derryl Barnes' "Mr. & Mrs. Anthony Lewis" being critiqued by IPC Judge Joan Genest, M.Photog.Cr.

We hope watching this critique has got you excited to stream the competition's judging July 30 - August 2 and the IPC Live broadcast July 31 - August 2! And if you are in the area or want to make the trip, you can also attend IPC judging in person FOR FREE! Come to Gwinnett Technical College, Building 100, 5150 Sugarloaf Pkwy, Lawrenceville, GA 30043 and watch the addictive competition judging process unfold. There will be signs directing you to IPC. Save the dates and we'll see you there - either online or in-person! Whether you watch online or come pay us a visit, you're guaranteed to learn a lot from this experience.
