Don’t play hide-and-seek with your customers…PPA has enhanced the Find-a-Photographer benefit just for you! All PPA members (except members in the Aspiring category) receive an online portfolio with business contact information, a headshot and logo, and 4 photo albums (each holding up to 8 images)! Any consumer searching for a photographer will find your profile if you meet their criteria (location, specialties, etc).

There are no additional charges for these portfolios – it is part of the value of PPA membership.

What’s included with the portfolio?

  • 4 beautifully designed online sample albums, 8 images in each album, each image 5MB or smaller
  • Descriptions of each image (if desired)
  • Your professional details and contact information

  • The ability to receive e-mails from prospective clients wanting more information.

How do I manage my portfolio?
Almost everything in your portfolio can be managed on PPA’s Web site, and changes will take place automatically. Just log into www.ppa.com/my-ppa  (with your own username/password), and you’ll be taken to the My PPA page. The top left box (labeled My PPA Information) includes a direct text link to your profile (Update Your Find-a-Photographer Profile).

To update contact information, click Update Profile. Your business details (address, contact info) can be updated by changing your main member record. To update your business address, for example, make sure you click on the red text link beside that area (“click here to change your displayed address”). Please note: addresses are refreshed nightly, so you will not see your changes to this field until the next day.

Your photographic specialties can only be updated by contacting the Service Center (800-786-6277).

To work with your headshot or logo, click Upload Headshot/Logo. To create/edit albums, click Update Albums/Photos. To upload images, click Upload Photos.

How do I log in?
Go to www.ppa.com/my-ppa and log in with your personal username/password. Once you log in, the Web site will automatically direct you to the My PPA page. Look at the top left box, labeled My PPA Information. Click on the link for Update Your Find-a-Photographer Profile. You are now in the Find-a-Photographer Control Panel where you can manage your information and images.

It says my profile is currently disabled. Why?
All PPA members are automatically added to the Find-a-Photographer search engine with the business information and photographic specialties you provide. However, if you chose to have your information withheld from the search engine, you will see this (once you are logged into www.ppa.com/my-ppa and on the My PPA page):

Your Find-a-Photographer profile is currently disabled. If you would like to enable it so users will be able to search for you, please click here.

If you click that “click here” text link, you will go to the Find-a-Photographer Control Panel. You will be taken first to the View Profile page, which shows you what your profile currently looks like. At the top, you will see:

Current Profile - Currently Disabled Click here to enable your profile.

Click on the “Click here to enable your profile” text link if you wish consumers to see your profile in the Find-a-Photographer search engine.

How do I change my displayed name?
Once you are logged into www.ppa.com/my-ppa and have clicked Update Your Find-a-Photographer Profile, click Update Profile. Your name will appear grayed out (because it is pulling that information from your member record).

Click the red text link to the right of your First Name (“click here to change your displayed name”). This will take you to the Edit My Member Record page.

Correct your name. (Remember, this is the name that will be attributed to your member record.)

Click the Update button at the bottom.

Click Close this Window in the navigation bar on the left. You’ll be taken back to the Update Profile page.

How do I change my displayed business address?
Once you are logged into www.ppa.com/my-ppa and have clicked Update Your Find-a-Photographer Profile, click Update Profile. Your business details will appear grayed out (because it is pulling that information from your member record).

Click the red text link to the right of your Address bar. This will take you to the Edit My Member Record page.

Click the Business Address navigation link in the red area on your left.

Write in the business address you want shown to prospective customers. (Remember, this is the business address that will be attributed to your member record. You can choose to have your PPA member mail sent to this address or an alternative – to do so, click on the Alternate Address link on the left.)

Click the Update button at the bottom.

Click Close this Window in the navigation bar on the left. You’ll be taken back to the Update Profile page.

Please note: addresses are refreshed nightly, so you will not see your changes to this field until the next day.

How do I update my photographic specialties?
Your photographic specialties help consumers locate the types of photographers they need (whether they are looking for portrait photographers, event photographers, or something else). If you never identified your specialties when you joined (or they have changed), your profile may not come up in some consumers’ searches. 

In order to change these specialties, you must contact the Service Center (800-786-6277).

What is the About Me and My Work section?
This 1,000-word description box allows you to write a brief introduction about yourself and/or your studio. Take advantage of this early chance to personalize your profile and tell people why YOU are the right choice for them.

Once you are logged into www.ppa.com/my-ppa and have clicked Update Your Find-a-Photographer Profile, click Update Profile. Scroll down to About Me and My Work. Click inside the text box to write.

Click the Update Find-a-Photographer Profile button at the bottom when you are finished with that page.

I don’t want my address and/or phone number to show. What can I do?
With the Privacy Settings (on the Update Profile page) you can choose to hide your address and your phone number.

Once you are logged into www.ppa.com/my-ppa and have clicked Update Your Find-a-Photographer Profile, click Update Profile. Scroll down to Privacy Settings and click the boxes next to what you want hidden.

Click the Update Find-a-Photographer Profile button at the bottom when you are finished with that page.

How do I add my headshot or business logo to my profile?
Once you are logged into www.ppa.com/my-ppa and have clicked Update Your Find-a-Photographer Profile, click Upload Headshot/Logo.

Click the Browse button to search your computer’s files for your headshot or an image of your logo. A window will open with your computer’s files.

Choose the headshot or logo you wish displayed (make sure it is 5MB or less), and click Open.

Click the Upload Headshot button at the bottom.

How do I create a photo album?
Once you are logged into www.ppa.com/my-ppa and have clicked Update Your Find-a-Photographer Profile, click Update Albums/Photos.

Type in the name of the album you wish to create. For example, if you photograph children, seniors, and family portraits, perhaps you want separate albums for each.

Click the Create Album button on the right.

How do I make changes to a photo album?
Once you are logged into www.ppa.com/my-ppa and have clicked Update Your Find-a-Photographer Profile, click Update Albums/Photos. You’ll see all your created albums listed on that page (including any photos you have uploaded to them).

To edit or delete an album, click on the Edit text link underneath the album name.

Rename the album by typing in a new name under Edit Album Name. Click the Rename Album button.

Delete the album (which will delete all the images assigned to that album) by clicking the Delete Album Permanently button.

How do I upload images to a specific photo album?
Once you are logged into www.ppa.com/my-ppa and have clicked Update Your Find-a-Photographer Profile, click Upload Photos. You can also click the Upload Images text link by the albums without photos (on the Update Albums/Photos page).

Write in the Photo Name.

Choose the existing album you want to hold the image by choosing from the dropdown box called Album Name. OR, if you want the image to go under a new album, you can name it in the area called New Album Name.

Browse for the photo to upload by clicking the Browse button. A new window will open. Select the image you want (make sure it is 5MB or less) and click open.

Write a short description of what this photo showcases if you wish to point out anything.

Click the Upload Photo button.

How do I edit the information about my photos?
Once you are logged into www.ppa.com/my-ppa and have clicked Update Your Find-a-Photographer Profile, click Update Albums/Photos. If you didn’t include a name or description for your photos, or you want to edit that information, you can do so here.

Click the Edit text link under the image you want changed. You will open the Update Photo Details page for that image.

Change the Photo Title or Photo Description by typing in those boxes.

Click the Update Photo Details button.

How do I delete photos?
Once you are logged into www.ppa.com/my-ppa and have clicked Update Your Find-a-Photographer Profile, click Update Albums/Photos. If you want to delete a photo, you can do so here.

Click the Edit text link under the image you want deleted. You will open the Update Photo Details page for that image. At the bottom of that page is the choice to delete.

Click the Delete Photo Permanently button.

Where do the photo descriptions and photo titles show up?
When a consumer pulls up your profile in a search, they can click for more details about you. Your photo albums will appear. If a person clicks on one of the photos, it will enlarge and dislplay the title and brief description underneath the photo. In addition, if they choose to view your images as a slideshow, the titles and descriptions will appear for all.

You can see how this will look by clicking the View Profile tab (once you are logged into www.ppa.com/my-ppa and have clicked Update Your Find-a-Photographer Profile).

Why should I add images to my online portfolio?
Seeing images is very influential in photography. Quality professional images on your portfolio boost the chances of clients calling you (or visiting your Web site for more examples), as they can see your style.

Why should I customize my portfolio?
Customizing helps you maximize your hits and advertise your services. The more a potential customer knows about your business and your specialties, the more likely they are to know if you are the right kind of photographer for them.
