What is a Webinar?

A webinar is an online seminar. You follow a link to log on to PPA’s host web site (WebEx), and view & listen to a presentation through your computer. You don’t need any special set-up or equipment; the connection is through your web browser. You can listen though your computer’s speakers or a headset if you prefer.

The visual usually consists of a PowerPoint presentation. Some speakers may share their desktop. This allows them to show a live demonstration, as you watch each movement made in a program such as Adobe Photoshop, or to show you websites or other media.

What’s the difference between LIVE and ON-DEMAND Webinars?

All of our webinars are available live AND on-demand.

Live Webinars

You’ll be attending a webinar as it’s being recorded, in real-time. This allows you the opportunity to type in questions to the presenter, which they may answer during the program.

When you sign up to attend a live webinar, you follow the link provided in our invitation mail (sent by messenger@webex.com) and follow the instructions to log on to the webinar.

On-Demand Webinars

These are the recorded versions of the live webinars. The only difference is that you won’t be able to ask the speaker questions. The advantage is that you can view them anytime! All PPA webinars are available on-demand within a day or two after the live event. You can access the archive at http://www.ppa.com/education-events/webinars.php

You will be provided with a link to view the webinar, either in an email or via an online page to which you’re granted access.

How does the ONLINE LEARNING PASS work?

When you sign up for an online learning pass for $99, you gain access to every live and on-demand webinar for six months.

For every upcoming webinar, you’ll receive an e-mail invitation to the live event. You’ll also have unlimited access online to view any on-demand webinars. If you’re not available to attend the live event, you’ll be able to access all webinars at any time once they are added to our on-demand collection, usually within a day or two after the live event.  Here’s how to access them:

Once you’ve signed up for an Online Learning Pass, you will automatically be granted access to a page on PPA.com with links to every webinar in our on-demand collection.  You will be able to view any of them, at any time, from the links on this page.

You simply log on to PPA.com and click on “My PPA” in the top left navigation. Look for “My Online Learning Pass,” which will appear just beneath “My Merits.”  This link takes you directly to the page.

Will I be able to see the webinar again?

Yes, once you have paid for a webinar, you are welcome to view the archived program as many times as you like. When you register for a live webinar, you will also receive the archive link via email, soon after the date of the live event.

Can I download the speaker’s slides?

If the speaker wishes to share their presentation slides or any other document, it will be e-mailed to registrants, usually after the event or posted with instructions for access.

How do I ask the speaker questions during a live event?

The Q&A will be explained at the start of the webinar. You will type a question into the Q&A field at the lower right hand part of the screen and submit it. Due to the volume and similarity of many questions, we may not be able to answer all of them live, but will make every effort to respond.

Follow these Tips for the Best Webinar Experience!

  1. Please be sure to adjust your personal volume controls for maximum sound.
  2. If you have other programs open, you may try closing them.
  3. If there is no audio try logging off quickly and back on again.
  4. If audio issues persist, contact the host for the toll-number and code to call in.
