Rachel Marten, Cr.Photog.
Sponsored by White House Custom Colour
Rachel Marten understands the frustration of a poor sales average. She also understands the feeling of thinking you can’t do anything about it. Nowadays, she can hardly wait to share the knowledge that changed her attitude about sales and life…one that took her senior sales average from $475 to over $3,000!
She and her husband, Clark, of Clark Marten Photography in Columbus, Mont., (www.clarkmarten.com) create senior portraits that their clients happily pay big bucks to have. Theirs is a rags-to-riches story, and Rachel learned that she couldn’t expect different results by doing the “same ‘ol, same ‘ol” marketing. To her, it’s all about the “relentless pursuit of business,” which she chases by mixing their marketing up with everything from direct mailing to marketing events and EVERYTHING in between. With over 20 years of experience, she and Clark feel that if the most important factor in a successful studio is the relationship with clients, then the second is the willingness to push yourself to do things better and more creatively!

He knows what sells, and what he can do to create those options. He knows what to say in the portrait session to encourage and support his clients’ want and needs. After all, sales starts in the camera room, and Clark knows how to ensure the client is ready to walk on to the next step: the sales session with Rachel.
