:: Webinar FAQs

What is a webinar?
A webinar is an online seminar. You follow a link to the hosting Web site, and listen to the live seminar either through your computer speakers or on the phone. The webinar usually consists of a shared powerpoint that the speaker uses to illustrate his or her class. Sometimes, the speaker will share his or her desktop, allowing you to watch each movement made in a program such as QuickBooks. PPA’s webinars usually feature business education (geared toward professional photographers, of course).

What are the archived webinars?
The archived webinars are recorded versions of the live webinars. The only difference is that you won’t be able to ask the speaker questions.

Do I need to buy or download software before I can watch a webinar?
No. Just follow the link you receive after registration.

Will I be able to see the webinar again?
Every webinar will be archived for viewing at your convenience. Those who register for the webinar will receive the archive link via e-mail, soon after the date of the live event. This archive will be available for a limited time. All archives will be available for purchase for a limited time, as well.

Can I download the speaker’s slides?
If the speaker wishes to share the PowerPoint or any other document, it will be e-mailed to registrants, usually after the event. Those downloads are usually available to those who purchase archived webinars, but it is the decision of the speaker.

How do I ask the speaker questions?
The question and answer process will be explained during the webinars. You will type a question into the Q&A field on the webinar screen and submit it. You will be answered by either panelists in the webinar or when the speaker takes questions at the end (and sometimes throughout the webinar).

Will I get merits for attending a webinar?

You can now earn merits by attending PPA Webinars!
Attendees receive one service merit for each Webinar credit, based on the following criteria:

  • Paid Webinar of less than a 3-hour duration - ½ Credit
  • Paid Webinar of 3 hours or more - 1 Credit

Credits are awarded only for first-time attendance to each Webinar (either live or archived). In addition, these credits will be awarded for all eligible Webinars since January 12, 2009!
