Michael BartonAbout Michael:

Having an unquenchable thirst to create led Michael Barton, M.Photog.MEI.Cr., CPP, F-PPANI, F-APPI, to complete his master’s degree in Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas in 2000. Through a diverse study of humanity, he developed a distinctive love for people, and photography became his chance to give back. Michael currently owns and operates Indigo Photographic Inc. in the historic district of Batavia, Illinois. Through Indigo, Michael is able to create unique art pieces for his clients. His concept that "everyone on this planet deserves a great image that will last for generations" keeps his studio in high demand.

Currently, Michael is also the State Representative for the American Society of Photographers and serves on the board of directors for the Professional Photographers Association of Northern Illinois and the Associated Professional Photographers of Illinois. He has previously served as the house photographer for Chicago Jazz Magazine and has been published in Modern Drummer, Jazz Improv, and numerous other publications. He has also published articles and images in Professional Photographer, Rangefinder, Texas Professional Photographer and other photographic magazines.

The recipient of many awards, Michael is a Certified Professional Photographer and has his Master of Photography, Master of Electronic Imaging, and Photographic Craftsman degrees from PPA. He has won several Kodak Gallery Awards, Fuji Masterpiece Awards and also received the Canon Par Excellence Award for Electronic Imaging in 2009. Michael has been a PPA Photographer of the Year and PPA Electronic Imager of the Year multiple times. He was also named a Top 10 Mid America Photographer of the Year and Top 10 Illinois Photographer of the Year for 2008, 2009, and 2010. And in 2010, he was named MARC Illinois Photographer of the Year.
