Photoshop Retouching: Seeing, Correcting & Enhancing

Course #CA05

Tashia Peterman

Retouching is an art. It’s seeing light and color and knowing how to manipulate them to take an image from acceptable to exceptional. And in this class, Tashia will help you master that art!

By focusing on retouching a headshot, family portrait and competition image, she will show you the most efficient ways to retouch your subjects. Your goal is to highlight the natural beauty you see as you photograph and to remove or soften the flaws that the camera tends to bring out. Not only will you learn the tools to use (and how to use them), you will also learn what to look for in your images. You’ll learn to recognize what is distracting and remove it from the images, and to visualize what will enhance and improve your images.

Tashia will demonstrate non-destructive ways to deal with “problems,” and you’ll see what subtle changes make the most difference in improving your images. And as an added bonus, you’ll receive a package of her tool presets to work with—and keep!—along with a few textures to use for overlays and retouching.

Course Date: October 24, 2011

Course Hours:
9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Items to Bring: Laptop, thumb drive, note-taking materials, files for retouching (recommended: headshot, small family portrait, potential print competition)
