Shooting Models in the Field: Working with the Environment

Course #NY01

Pavel Shpak

Learn how to make the most out of your photography situations in the field—a true test of professionalism! Pavel will take you to locations that are photogenic (and some that are not so) to photograph a female model. Lighting will be different in all locations, and it may even rain. And what if you don’t have a photogenic location? How do you control the perspective? What lenses would be best in certain situations? What do you do if it rains? Snows? Join Pavel and learn to see the environment and how photogenic it really is (and how you can make it more so).

If you want to make beautiful, soft light in many different situations, you’ve found your class. In this course, you’ll work with available light and artificial light, all while keeping the look natural. You’ll also experience the process of working with reflectors, diffusion, flash, custom white balancing and handheld metering. Watch demos and practice photographing outside (weather permitting), with and without flash, inside by window light and in the studio. Along with learning the simple and effective mechanics of lighting, you’ll also learn about the creation of three-dimensional contrast, balancing natural lighting with multiple off-camera flashes.
