"Seeing the Light"; Portraiture 101, Indoors and Out

In this class, you will learn both in-studio and outdoor lighting principles and techniques. If you have never had formal portrait lighting training, you truly need this foundational information to move your career forward. In the end, it is the light that makes an image, whether it is a portrait of a person or any other type of capture. We will cover how to work with a light meter, create lighting ratios, understand the histogram on your camera and posing techniques that work well, when and why.

Course Hours: Morning studio session 9:00 am to 12:30 pm; Lunch break and travel from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm; Afternoon outdoor session 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Items to Bring: DSLR Camera with portrait lens, zoom is fine, batteries, camera cards, card reader, laptop if desired or other note taking materials.  PocketWizard Plus III or a PocketWizard Transceiver if you have these.  Money for lunch, bottled water, jacket, and umbrella. Tripod is optional but encouraged. Portable flash is optional; I will have both Photogenic and Nikon available.
