This is a two-day course that walks you through everything you need to know to bring equine photography to life. In your first day, you'll work on portraits and horses moving freely as you capture the spirit and majesty of these animals. In Day 2, delve into the connection that people and horses share with each other. With live models, both human and equine, you'll capture the emotion, drama and love between horses and their owners. Throughout the course, work with lighting and composition, camera technique and timing to create beautiful images, fitting of these amazing creatures. With various different breeds and plenty of hands-on camera time, you'll walk away confident in your camera skills, your experience and your abilities.

Course Hours: 9am - 5pm

Items to Bring: Class will be held on a working farm each day. Closed toed shoes are necessary; boots are ideal. Dress in layers to accommodate for potentially variable Vermont fall weather. Camera equipment can include what you are comfortable with. A short zoom (24-70mm) and long zoom (70-200 or 300mm) are good options for lenses.

St. Albans 
Underwater Photography

First you'll learn the basics of underwater photography and then we'll go to a local pool and apply that learning! No equipment necessary since Wayne will supply the students with the underwater equipment and cameras for this class. We will photograph one to two models in a 2-3 hour underwater session. Afterwards, we'll take a look at the results of our efforts.

Course Hours: 11am - 7pm

Items to Bring: a sack lunch/snacks, money for lunch;

Wayne will supply the following:

  • Underwater cameras
  • Weight belts
  • models with outfits for underwater
  • Diving masks or swimming goggles (students should bring their own if they have a favorite one)

Students should bring:

  • swimsuit
  • towels
  • plastic bag to hold wet items
  • dry clothes to change into afterwards
  • notebook
  • camera to use out of the water if they would like to document the day's events
  • computer to download images at the end of the day
  • Or, bring a thumb drive to download your images to take home
