This Super 1 Day course is a straightforward, hands-on studio lighting demonstration. Learn everything you’ve always wanted to know about masterful studio lighting. You’ll cover the basics including light patterns, ratios and set up. Explore how to use a light meter to attain proper exposure and achieving the right ratios, such as 3:1, 5:1 and more. This hands-on class will provide you with the fundamentals needed for skillfully posing and lighting your subjects. Learn the various lighting patterns that provide the optimum lighting for different subjects such as men, women, mature clients and more. Explore the concept of facial analysis and angle of view to refine your posing and best flatter your subjects. Starting with one light and a reflector, you’ll build on your setups, adding additional lights to achieve more dimensions in your images.

You'll shoot both indoors and out, using strobelights and speedlights, so be prepared to practice and perfect your skills.

Join instructor Mike Cole as you photograph seniors with only Off Camera Flash in studio & on location! This class will focus on using only OCF as you incorporate various modifiers to determine what works best for you. Experiment with beauty dishes and softboxes, bare flash reflectors and multiple flashes. You'll even get to experience high speed synch to show the different effects it can have on your images. You'll begin the day in studio and then transition into historic downtown Laurens. Among brick roads and urban walls, you'll find beautiful backdrops against which to photograph the high school models this course provides.

Two of the main reasons why portfolios fail image submission are lack of control of light and flat lighting. CPP liaison Sabina Cavalli will teach you how to prepare a solid set of images for the submission. This is a hands-on workshop, in which Sabina will review lighting patterns and ratios, choice of light modifiers and how they affect quality of light, posing dos and don'ts, and relevant elements pertinent to each of the different submission categories. Bring your camera to practice the different lighting scenarios.
