Course #NY01
Nancy Basmann, M.Photog., CPP

Spend the day with Instructor Nancy Basmann and see a different side of life. Stepping aside from the traditional, Nancy shares her street portraits which depict a sobering reality – the homeless, the mad, the addicted, the underside of society.
Using these images as her touchstone, Nancy walks you through how she captured these in her trademark "Show, Tell and Discuss" style. Discover how she got the shots, what worked for competition, which did not and why. Examine the emotion and drama, the depth and detail that go into an award-winning shot. During the latter part of the class, Nancy will show you how she edited some of the images, exploring the tools and techniques available to you via Photoshop.

Do you want to dig a bit deeper? Are you interested in what makes an IPC merit winning image? This day delivers both!

Course #NY02
Ron Smith, CPP

Perfect images don't come from perfect settings – you don't always have flowery fields and beautiful sunlight, the right time of the day and oh-so-subtle shadows. As the photographer and the artist, YOU make the location the perfect location.

Spend the day, working in utilitarian areas around a shopping plaza as you discover how to create the right settings. Meter walls, piles of pallets, dumpsters and storage boxes – explore why these have been the backdrops for award winning shots and featured in multiple international publications. Practice with a live model as Instructor Ron Smith coaches you on how to make any spot work for you. Those "killer shots" are all around – YOU bring them out, you create them and this class will show you how!

Course Date: Sunday, October 9, 2016

Course Hours: 10am - 5pm

Items to Bring: Minimum DSLR with speedlight (popup flashes will not be utilized) but feel free to bring whatever setup used for location desired.
