Senate Considers Bills Favorable to Home-Based Businesses and the Self-Employed

PPA urges the U.S. Senate to pass two key tax provisions that will be beneficial to alleviating the tax burden faced by small business owners like photographers. As the Senate prepares to debate H.R. 5297 - The Small Business Jobs Act of 2010, PPA has sent letters of support to the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee leadership and Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA), applauding their efforts to ease some of the challenges faced by many photographers.

Vital Signs: Electronic Signatures

Whether it's a destination wedding or out-of-town clients, there may be times in your career when a hand-signed document is more difficult to obtain. The good news is that there is an alternative: the electronic signature.

As defined by the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (UETA), an electronic signature is an "electronic sound, symbol or process attached to or logically associated with a record and executed or adopted by a person with the intent to sign the record." In other words, an electronic signature is the digital equivalent of hand signing a document.
