ELECTRONIC IMAGING COMPETITION RULES

The purpose of this competition is to allow the entrant to demonstrate their electronic imaging skill and expertise in pursuit of the PPA Master of Electronic Imaging Degree. Entries will be judged for digital, artistic and technical proficiency. Entries must have been sourced, composited, manipulated and/or produced by digital means. PPA members are eligible to achieve PPA Exhibition Merits toward the PPA Master of Electronic Imaging Degree.

- ALL SUBMISSIONS ARE FINAL. NO CHANGES TO YOUR ENTRY ARE PERMITTED ONCE IT IS SUBMITTED. YOU MAY NOT CHANGE THE TITLE OR CONTENT OF ANY ENTRY AFTER YOU SUBMIT PAYMENT TO FINALIZE THE ENTRY.

ELIGIBILITY
- All digital manipulation must have been performed by the entrant.
- Any entry which has been reproduced from an existing photograph, portrait, graphic or any other artwork produced by another person must be accompanied by permission from that maker and pasted on the back of the entry. If an entry, in the good-faith opinion of the Photographic Exhibition Committee, violates copyright, trademark or any other applicable law that entry shall be disqualified.
- Each entry must be titled. The entrant’s name must not appear on face of a print entry.
- A maximum of four entries may be submitted per entrant.
- No entry will be eligible that has been made under the supervision of an instructor or as a class assignment.
- No two entries shall be of the same subject.
- Entries previously merited by the entrant at any PPA International Competition are not eligible.
- Entries bearing the PPA Affiliated Exhibition Seal of Approval and submitted according to the rules of entry will be automatically accepted for exhibition.
- Entries in this competition may be submitted by another entrant in the photographic competition in a different year, provided it hasn’t merited. (See Photographic Rules for eligibility)
- If an image Merits in any category of PPA competition it may not be entered again in any other category at any time by any entrant. No image that receives a Merit may be entered more than once under any conditions.
ELECTRONIC IMAGING
MAKERS MAY CHOOSE TO HAVE THEIR ELECTRONIC IMAGING ENTRIES JUDGED DIGITALLY OR WITH TRADITIONAL PRINTS.
IF YOU CHOOSE DIGITAL ENTRY, YOUR ONLINE SUBMISSION WILL BE JUDGED.
SEALED IMAGES MUST BE SUBMITTED IN THE SAME FORMAT AS ORIGINALLY JUDGED FOR THE SEAL TO BE VALIDATED.
IF YOUR IMAGE IS ACCEPTED FOR MERIT, IT WILL BE DISPLAYED AT IMAGING USA IN THE SAME FORMAT AS JUDGED.
- Entries in this category shall include any subject that can be submitted as a print. Entries may include guide images.
- If an entry includes guide images, they must be mounted adjacent to the finished print on the face of a 20"x 24" mount board.
- Print entries without guide images must be mounted on 16x20 mount board.
- Guide images (11x14 maximum) are strongly recommended to demonstrate the digital expertise that has been performed. Note: Entries that include guide prints must be mounted adjacent to the finished print on the face of a 20"x 24" mount board.
Exception: PPA Master of Electronic Imaging Degree holders may submit, entries of any shape and size on a mount board a minimum of 80 square inches to a maximum of 480 square inches, with the largest dimensions no longer than 24”.
- Print entries must be mounted on a standard mount material (double weight mat board, gator board, ¼” foam, or Sintra). Images on metal and mounted to another standard mount material, must have rounded corners. No mount that could potentially damage other entries or pose a danger to print handlers will be accepted. Masonite, glass, stretcher frames or conventional frames will not be accepted. No foreign material may be added to the front or back of the entry that may damage another entry
DEADLINES AND FEES
- $95.00 for PPA members received by 5:00 PM on April 30, 2010.
- $155.00 for PPA members received after 5:00 PM on April 30, 2010 but before 5:00 PM on May 21, 2010.
- $160.00 for all non-members received by 5:00 PM on April 30, 2010.
- $220.00 for allnon-members received after 5:00 PM on April 30, 2010 but before 5:00 PM on May 21, 2010.
SHIPPING INSTRUCTIONS
- For any entry to be returned, it must be shipped in an approved print case. Or, entries may be shipped in any serviceable box but they will not be returned. (For more information go to http://competitions.ppa.com International Competitions).

- PPA assumes no responsibility for damage to entries or print cases.
- Images shipped in an Approved Print Case will be returned within 30 days of the conclusion of Imaging USA.
- Entries accepted into the Loan Collection will not be returned.
Note: Failure to comply with these rules may result in disqualification of entry. The decision of the Photographic Exhibitions Committee is final.
