EMERGING PRO
Judges looked at all the entries from members in business 5 years or less (and who marked this category on their entry forms)…and debated their way to the top 3.
Winner:
Adrian Hitt – Adrian Hitt Dogography – Nashville, TN
Embodies one who excelled overall in quality, effectiveness, and unique presentation.
Not only did she dig into the research to find and appeal to a new market (dog photography), she had the innovation to go get it with big results. Starting out, dog photography was only 5% of her work. Now, it is 75%. Every piece stands out and yet fits together, creating an urge to have your dog photographed…even if you don’t have one.
Finalist:
London Wolfe Photography (Tammy Wolfe & Tamar London) – Altoona, PA
Embodies one who hit the bulls-eye of her target markets with a unified look.
Creating a unified image between photographic specialties is not easy (and doesn’t always work), especially when you consider that they wanted an upscale look while controlling costs; to be eco-friendly, warm, and welcoming; and to create pieces that people want to keep. They accomplished it…with great connection between all the pieces and great showcasing of striking images.
Finalist:
Diego Cappella – Cappella Photography – Miami, FL
Embodies one who broke the mold (with a “paparazzi” self-promotion).
Targeting Creative Directors of ad agencies, he knew it was hard to get a face-to-face interaction with them. So he photographed each on a break, sending an e-mail (with just the right copy) that explained his skill in getting such true moments of life as they come—making a stand for standing out in advertising photography. All the directors responded, with several projects coming as a result. He took a step outside the ordinary in a way that worked for a highly targeted audience.
