The challenge with this image is there is no directional light. The womans eyes are very dark with no catch lights. Even for those of us who use the world as our studio we much find directional light and add some to create beautiful portraits. the posing is off as well - setting the woman on the rail makes her wider which is not flattering. Just as an fyi - white is not a great color choice for clothing because as you can see in this image the whites are not the same white - also that has a tendancy to to be the brightest thing in the image and you want your faces to be the brightest thing in the image.
