Competition Question?
Can an entry in the photographic open be a composite of more than one image, or does it have to go into a different category?
Thank you for your help

Re: Competition Question?
Yes, composite images can be entered into the Photographic Open category.

Re: Competition Question?
Jason, are you going for a degree? If so you might want to consider what direction you want to go... to Master Photog, or Master Artist. Then decide what category to enter in.

Re: Competition Question?
Cheri is right. I was just giving the short version.
If you want the image judged on the final image results - and results only - then you can enter it into the Photographic Open competition and if it receives a merit, it will go towards the Master of Photography Degree.
If you want the image judged on the degree of difficulty involved in producing the image - then you can enter it into the Master Artist competition and if it receives a merit, it will go towards the Master Artise Degree.
But you can't have it both ways. Once an image merits in either competition, it's done - it cannot be entered again. And merits cannot be swapped from one competition to the other. Merits earned in the Photographic Open competition apply only towards the Master of Photography degree. Merits earned in the Artist competition can only be applied towards the Master Artist degree.
You have to decide in advance which way you want to go - which degree you want to work on...
Or - you can do like Cheri did and just get all of the degrees....The best way to gain for yourself is to give OF yourself.

Re: Competition Question?
Rick & Cheri
Thank you very much for the information. It's my second year entering and the first time for entering districts. I'm going for M.Photog. first, so thats good to know. I'm trying to narrow down my choices and I didn't want to mess up.
Thank You

Re: Competition Question?
You can go after both of them at the same time if you want to. You can enter both the Photographic Open and the Artist competitions at the same time - you just have to have a separate set of images for each of them and pay two entry fees - one for the PO and the other for the MA compettitions.
The best way to gain for yourself is to give OF yourself.
