trouble sizing images
I'm trying to follow the digital image rules for competition, but I can't get my files before the 3.5 mb size. The longest side is measured 4000 pixels, the ppi is 200 and I saved at jpg of 10, but I'm still over 6 mb! If I change the dimension, it also changes the pixels. Any advice? Thanks!

Re: trouble sizing images
Is the image highly detailed - like an outdoors image with a lot of trees and detailed greenery in the background? There was a member last year who had that issue and nothing I could do to the image resulted in a file smaller than 5.5mb. She uploaded it and it still accepted the image. Just make sure that the longest side is set to 4000 px or it will not be accepted.
Edited to add...
Also - check your bit depth. It should be set to 8 bit. If you have it set to 16 bit you'll never get the file to compress enough.Last edited by Rick_Massarini; 02-15-2013 at 01:21 AM.

Re: trouble sizing images
I think the specs said it was OK if it went over the MB size limit.

Re: trouble sizing images
I had the same problem with a square image, but was told to save at an 8 or 9 quality and it would be fine. So I did.
