Heather,
PEC created the Photographer of the Year awards 2 1/2 years ago with the first awards being made at IUSA in New Orleans last year. Every photographer who has all 4 entries accepted for exhibition is a Photographer of the Year. There are 5 levels of the award, those being: Bronze level - all 4 entries accepted for exhibition; Silver lever - all 4 accepted plus 1 in Loan Collection; Gold level - all 4 accepted plus 2 in Loan Collection; Platinum level - all 4 accepted plus 3 in Loan Collection; Platinum level - all 4 accepted plus all 4 in Loan Collection. There were 5 photographers who achieved Platinum level in 2005 with one of them achieving Platinum in both the Photographic Open and Electronic Imaging competitions. A great goal to strive for!

Buddy,
What do you mean by "all 4 entries accepted for exhibition"??? I thought only General collection and Loan collection prints were to be displayed. Does this have to do with how prints fare on state/regional competition?

The same thing
That is the same thing. Only images with a score over 80 are displayed and "accepted for exhibition".

Heather,
Any entrant may enter up to 4 entries in each of the three competitions (Photographic Open, Electronic Imaging and Art Tech) in either the regional or National competition. If an entrant entered 4 in Photographic Open at Mid East Regional and had three of those score over 80, they would be accepted for the National exhibit as long as the entrant sent (entered) them in the National competition. They could also send a fourth entry to fill out their case. This 4th entry could be the same one that did not receive an 80 in the Regional or a new entry for another try at having the 4th one accepted for exhibition. The entries are not scored at National but are voted in or out of the exhibition. If a person gets all 4 accepted the become a Photographer of the Year. Hope this is clearer than mud.
