CPP - Image Review

I am continuing to edit my portfolio for the upcoming CPP review -- would love any feedback. Right now I have 33 images in relatively close proportion to my percentages of work. If you have a few minutes and want to take a look and comment I would be very grateful. Thanks!

Hi Marilyn;

Have you had an opportunity to show these to anyone in person ? (especially those who are Masters) I see 9 possibles and 2 more if your fine art is allowed. I think they would be if you make sales from them but not if just done for competition or fun.

You live in an area with lots of excellent photographers. Call some and ask if they would have a few minutes to view your potential images for C.P.P. submission.

I think, perhaps, I will load a memory stick and bring it along to NEIPP and the NHPPA convention coming up -- and work on getting some feedback. And, yes,...some excellent photographers here -- they have set the bar very high and I have been soaking up information from them at workshops and meetings, etc..!

Recently a CPP Liaison got over 300 images from a candidate trying to select the 15 to go for Image Submission. I thought the following would help others going thru the same effort:

Be brutal and ruthless with your editing. I know eliminating so many can be heart-wrenching ... because YOU made them and they have 'intrinsic' value to you.
First off, you have many duplicates. Some are just B/W versions of color shots. Choose the best, the ones that really grab your heart.
Next, consider the backgrounds; Do they add/compliment the image or detract, pull attention away from your main subject(s)?
Then, look for flat/broad lit subjects. That kind of lighting will work with newborns and infants, but 'modeling' light, some indication of shadows, helps people over four years old...in many cases. The judges are looking at how the candidates (you) understand and use light and light and controls.

Liaisons are there to help but 300 sounds like abuse. At 300 the candidate isn't even trying to edit them down. I'll help anyone but they have to start by helping themselves first.
