Does this qualify for speaking merit?

Please let me be clear if PPA Mag happens to be reading this thread.

Speaking Merits
These merits can be earned through PPA and PPA Affiliates.

PPA Level
Instruct a class (or serve on a program panel) at Imaging USA.
Host a Super Monday class (as an instructor).
Instruct a PPA online class as a PPA webinar presenter.
Publish an article in Professional Photographer magazine, a PPA publication, or the PPA.com website.

Ok...so..I checked my merit report, and I do have two speaker merits for articles I have written. I also have service merits for some of the other things I have written or done for the mag. So....you might be able to get a speaker merit from the article.

You definitely can get speaker merits for writing for PPA mag (I've got plenty). That being said, I am not sure that being quoted in PPA mag qualifies as writing an article. But it would seem to at least qualify as a service merit.

Perhaps the article writing is listed in both service merit and speaking merit lists because it depends on the content of the article in question as to which merit it qualifies for. (Just a random guess on my part -not based on anything I've read).

PPA got back to me today and it is going to be credited as a speakers merit. Thanks for the info.

That's great!

I believe that was changed a year or two ago. My first article was not a speaker merit, but others were.
