Hi Paul;

All 3 of your posts had your image showing.

Ok ... first of all you have his head dead center. Secondly, there is no detail in his face ... way too dark. Third, the bright colors draw away from him.

I would make it black and white so the bright colors don't distract / brighten up his face / move the subject layer so he is on the 2nd quadrant.
Here is a quick example of what I mean.
