The East Coast School Photographic Workshops is proud to announce a fully endowed Don Blair Memorial Scholarship.

After Don's passing in 2004, all PPA Affiliate Schools agreed to have a Don Blair Scholarship. This was a 5 year commitment. The Professional Photographers of North Carolina, spearheaded by PPNC member Cindy Smith, set a goal of endowing the scholarship so it will become a permanent offering. All monies were raised privately, through donations and auctions.

At the PPNC Eastern Guild Seminar on Monday, Oct. 15th, it was announced that the goal had been met.

The Professional Photographers of NC and the East Coast School Photographic Workshops are issuing a challenge to all PPA Affiliate Schools to do the same. The memory of Big Daddy Don Blair will live on.

We believe Don would have been pleased.

Speaking as an ongoing East Coast School student, I highly recommend it!
Joe Gierisch is on the board for ECS and is one of the best "go-to" guys for getting things done, but the whole school atmosphere provides a lot of interaction between the instructors & students in the classroom, but after class as well. There are activities planned throughout the week designed to network and form friendships with other photographers and there's even a friendly (?) print competition.

Now that I am a North Carolina girl, I look forward to meeting more of you all here! I already have friends here like Sam Gray who I will get to play with at events, but I'm so sorry to miss the ECS where my good friend Tim Kelly and others will be teaching.

I'll be teaching at the Niagara School August 15 week and call me crazy, but I can't do it two weeks in a row! Hoping that next year my schedule will not coincide with all the NC dates. I missed the WNC Spring Seminar because I was away teaching also and same with the convention. Trying to clear my schedule is a problem.

BUT, I am teaching the Super Monday here in Asheville at our studio and look forward to meeting more PPA members there at that event.

And this is an open invitation to anyone in NC or SC that wants to stop by and visit our new home here and share what we are doing here. We are still checking out locations and vistas, but we could always use help or company.

Come by and visit us and we look forward to attending the NC events as soon as possible. I have already joined the State association and maintaining my out of state status in Florida. We are here permanently in the most beautiful place on earth.

Marilyn,

Outside chance I might take you up on the offer. I'm visiting a friend of mine and will attend ECS. Hope to visit a friend of mine that now does mostly family portraits on the beach. So I might be bouncing around NC. Want me to bring some good NJ bagels?
