Love it... absolutely love it. Essentially, I think Lucis has been overdone... but it definitely works here. I think it should do well.

Stewart,
I love th concept and execution. I will say that the lucis might be whats could keep it from going blue. Consider turnig it off completely, and possibly try another effect. Just for giggles.

IMO - it needs a bit more room above the accordian player's head. Tone down the floor, all that pattern is distracting. I am on the fence about the lucis, it adds to the almost characature feeling but maybe in the actual print it might be too much. This print will need a good title to sell it and I don't think Trailerpark is quite right.

I think you are dangerously close to a split key image with the floor part of the background very nearly verging on high key---high key being a brighter background than subject, and vice verse for low key. That in combination with little or no separation light on the accordion and guitar players' heads, making them lose some hair and fade into the background. Those things could certainly bring it down. As for feel and impact---I would remember this image, but would probably suggest the improvements and if I were judging it would be just less than merit worthy, but a great and fun photo nonetheless.

Just my opinion.

not what you are looking for....but I actually own that same pink flamingo outfit.

My daughter wore it for halloween when she was 5 or 6.

Too Funny.

I do like the image though!

The accordion player looks like Jay Leno. With that said, I think more headroom is needed at the top. But I like it!

Hi Stewart;

I looked at this image again today and the same title kept popping into my head. There was a group who had a few big hits years ago "The Average White Band". ;) (if you look them up they recorded "Cut The Cake" & "Pick Up The Pieces")

Hi Stewart;

With all of the talk about Elvis this week, it made me think about paintings of him on black velvet. So I envisioned your image without that background at all and looking like it was painted on black velvet. With that in mind, here is an example. I hope it gets more ideas flowing.

Hey Stuart,

Ok, I'm just gonna go right into it...

1. Tranquility Garden looks incomplete and probably needs a touch of Lucis and a fabricated (vanilla?) sky. Aside from the wide, what other technical or compositional element should the judge be impressed by?

2. The hospital (I'm assuming this will go into the commercial category?) image looks kindda clean but I keep going to the vanishing point w/c is the door. Probable fix would have been to have the doctor (big man) cover the door and have the rest of the staff to take 2 steps backwards. Also, the man-nurse's (murs) face looks soft on his left side.

Thanks for sharing!
