View Full Version : Need a title

04-11-2007, 07:13 PM
I cant come up with anything. This is printed on Kodak Metallic paper.

I like the way this flower seems to be coming out of the darkness. My intial thought was something like Magenta starbrust. Our something like that. I know it is not a good title, but it needs to have some sort of action in it as the file has good life to it. Good luck!!!

Standing out in a crowd

04-11-2007, 07:57 PM
Hi Jane;

I thought of "Just Showing Off" OR "Kelvin Explosion" .

Now how about some thoughts for titles on my thread ?

04-11-2007, 08:02 PM
How do you like the metallic paper for this?

Pink Petal Pinwheel

I thought of Standing out in a crowd, but I wasnt sure it would come across. Glad you said it.

I love metallic paper. When I had my own analog lab, I printed on it alot. I have a few samples of it in my wedding albums and clients always comment on it.

Thought of this right when you first posted it but didn't reply. Guess we are all thinking along the same lines . . .

"Catching The Light"

04-11-2007, 10:50 PM

Jane, I LOVE THIS IMAGE!! I have no title for you, I really am NOT good with titles, but I LOVE THIS IMAGES!! Thanks for sharing!!

04-12-2007, 12:22 AM
Thanks Stacey!

This is the first time I have entered an illustrative work into competition in a long time.

If the judges do not give it 80 or better, they are carzy!

04-12-2007, 01:58 AM
This might be a reach...
"Metal Petals"

04-12-2007, 01:42 PM
"Petal Power"

Very nice image. Thanks for sharing.

What about...

Pretty in Pink

Delicate Beauty?

04-12-2007, 02:24 PM
the image feels lke it is leaving the other three flowers behind. "3-2-1 blast off"
Carolle suggests something like "Out of the darkness"

I suck at titles!

04-12-2007, 03:24 PM
Pink Emergence or just Emergence

04-12-2007, 03:43 PM
Wow, that's really a beauty. Sorry I can't help with a title, but it's lovely regardless!

Pretty in Pink

Delicate Beauty?

Delicate Beauty would work (once again) We all should enter at least 1 DB

04-12-2007, 03:53 PM
How about "My Explosive Nature" or "Majestic in Magenta".

04-12-2007, 04:17 PM
"Into the Light" ?

Just one. This year all of my entries will be called Delicate beauty.

04-12-2007, 05:37 PM
HAHAHA Delicate Beauty. I have used that title a few times :o

Steve Bedell claims ownership of that title. Time to get out the thesauraus.

I have all the titles from the 2006 PPANE print competiton typed up neatly on 4 pages. Will sell for hmmmmmmmm ten bucks?

04-12-2007, 07:49 PM
Here is another I just thought of ... "Natures' Pinwheel". It looks like one of those toys on a stick that spins around in the wind.

04-12-2007, 10:07 PM
I have decided to name all of my entries this year "Old Man in Hat",
what do you think???? :D

04-12-2007, 10:41 PM
I'm with Stacy, I love the image. How about "Standing Out In A Crowd"

04-13-2007, 12:14 AM
Hi Ed,

I think "Standing out in a crowd" it is.

LOL Nylora

04-13-2007, 12:32 AM
I kept trying to think of something that referred to ALL the flowers AND the lighting..."into the light" kept coming to mind, but thought that may be over done. Mark's "Emergence" is great! How about "Out of the darkness" or "Out of Darkness" or(lol) "Out of darkness Comes..." For me the image is about the light(and ALL the flowers) not JUST the larger flower.
And is this image for sale? LOL...really, I have a wall in my living room it would look GREAT on!! I just love it-have I said that already, wink wink! be well.

04-13-2007, 01:36 AM
Sure I'll sell it to you. I hardly ever do illustrative stuff, does the fact that I grew the flowers boost the price a bit?

04-13-2007, 03:43 AM
How about just "Pretty In Pink"

04-13-2007, 05:15 AM
How about "Another Pink Flower". I'm being goofy. Sorry. Just needed to get that out of my system.

04-13-2007, 06:35 PM

My images entered in NHPPA's print competition this year (04/22) will be....

#1 - Delicate Beauty in hat with beard
#2 - Pretty in Pink hat with beard
#3 - Emerging from the light in hat and beard
#4 - Man with hat and beard #4
#5 - Man with hat and beard #5
#6 - Man with hat and beard #6

Ran out of titles after #3.....

I think you should title it...

"Hogging the light"

Isn't that why that one is bigger and brighter?

04-13-2007, 06:46 PM

Just a word of advice. Having judged one year and entered the "3000th" (exageration) print named "Field of Dreams" and having another one come up and judges comment on the name and mine had yet to come up - I nearly died - Don't use a title you know or hear has been used a lot. Pretty in Pink is one of those titles.

Ed and I often take CD cases and look at song titles for ideas for print titles. My personal favorite for your print is the "Standing out in a crowd."

I think I will be using "Standing out in a Crowd" for the title. I have used Delicate Beauty but never Pretty in Pink.

Funny story about my 13th print merit for my Masters. I entered an image of an Easter passion play and titled it Witnesses to his Glory. Wish I had a digital file of it to show you, but if you can picture a backlit stage with a choir in front in silhouette all across the stage from left to right. Behind them is a scrim and Jesus in a white robe rises up into a light coming down from the top of the stage. (not bad for NH community theater)

I wasnt at the judging but Lizbeth Guerrina was a judge and told me that the original score was a 79 and one of the judges had called it back for a second look. The title got mixed up with another print that was coming up after and that title was "Peekaboo". I guess they had to keep bringing the print back because the judges were howling with laughter every time it came up. It finally got an 80.

I mentioned "pretty in pink" earlier because of a conversation with Helen Yancy. She said that that was a title judges have heard a gazillion times and cringe over...

But then again Jane knows my oblique sense of humor as well as Nylora, Jeff, Mark, George and all the other folks on here associated with NHPPA and from NH.
