Hi group;

After Derek gave the idea, I'm starting a thread of possible T-Shirt ideas. I also think it would be cool for everyone to meet at the convention. And with t-shirts announcing to the world that we come in here, we can spot each other.

Here is mine to start it off ....

I don't have the stuff to do it right now but I think the winning design would tie a camera and a keyboard together since we all definitely have those two in common!

Can't wait to see the designs!

The wildly popular "Chicks who Click" shirts are probably a good measure for the t-shirt design.

Geeks who click? I dunno.

Why aren't there more PPA members reading posts? They used to be promoting visiting, for all kinds of great comments on lots of subject matter. I've recently been on apple.com/support/forums. It's users of Apple products. I had glitches with a new MacBook Pro, the new notebook with Intel Core, if one asks. How about a design of a lapel pin? Or select visitors meet at restaurant along the River Walk?

Myself, I choose to not stay at the host hotel, Hilton; I prefer a little walk to save some money, and breakfast included. Last year I stayed at Embassy Suites, walking across the bridge, 1/4 mile.

This January, I may go on Thursday for a few days of "sight-seeing". I do have "mission" to view lots at trade show; I sort of need to visit & chat with some friends we've made over the years.

I think Jack R is doing a program; we should be in audience!

Hi group;

Since Jack is going to be the new PPA Prez ... how about his photo on the back ? *S*

I like the idea Holly came up with. Instead if just a t-shirt, a golf shirt would be a great idea. I'm about to turn 59 years old (Sept. 29th) and wear t-shirts ... under another shirt. But I do wear golf shirts .. especially in my bowling league. Great idea Holly !!!

So is this all just talk, or do we plan to come to a consensus at some point? And who is gonna be in charge of collecting money and distributing shirts? Like I said before, I'm not really interested in a t-shirt. When I go to conference I like to wear the same stuff I wear to work every day. I've tried the casual jeans and t-shirt route at seminars and it just puts me in the wrong frame of mind. If I dress for business I think for business. So that's why I'd rather have a polo type shirt - still pretty casual for me but at least in the ball park. Anyway I realize I'm just one voice but maybe somebody else, besides Craig & I, would also like nicer shirts. I would even go for a button down with embrodiered logo - though I know that's alot more money - but just like wedding photography, you get what you pay for!

I'm not here as often as many of you, but if my opinion were to be tallied, I also vote for a polo, which is my type of attire in warm weather, outside portraits, etc.

Who proposes to get them done, making sure they get reimbursed, and then ship or have them in luggage to San Antonio? Convince PPA staff to have them for sale. I bought an "imaging" polo several years ago, and it got taken by houskeeping people while at a regional; can't figure why they would want it!

Marc,

The toga party would be fine on 1 condition....

Since there might be drinks involved (Derek's buying I hear), all must promise to wear their tshirts under their toga, and lets make sure we buy them extra long... Toga parties can be scary, that's why I tend to avoid them!

David, you can wear those hip waders with your toga.

Better a toga then the bikinis and speedos somebody was talking about!.
Micheal - several years ago Keith judged in Minnesota. They had a MASH party and Keith went in a hospital gown. He also had a big bandage on his back with a rubber knife handle protruding and "79" written in fake blood. Probably wasn't all that far from what some of the entrants were actually thinking!

Charmaine_Check

I went with the mouse because I was thinking more in terms of internet than image editing. I too use my tablet for most things but still tend to revert to the mouse for clicking and scrolling activities.

I did have another variation in mind that would be more of an oval swoosh and incorporate a camera graphic, but if t-shirts are already being produced I don't want to disturb the flow. I guess I didn't catch that part of the thread before I started.

Have fun at the convention!

Hi Charmaine, were just being silly about the tablet thing.

Exactly! (but I am a big smug at times about not using a mouse, HAD to be to get employees to be comfortable with a tablet....throw the mouse away for three days, only use the pen tool, then we'll talk about feeding the mouse again.)

Hi Linda;

In 1966, when I was in Air Force Basic Photography school, one of my classmates dropped a roll of film. The instructor gasped and the kid asked "what did I do" ? The sgt. told him he had jarred the film and the images were all out of focus and he would get a failing grade for the day. He said "unless" & the kid asked what he meant. The sgt. told him he could go in the darkroom and look for the bottle marked "in focus developer". He was looking for a long time till we finally all burst out laughing. Some people are more gullible than others. LOL

Poor guy!

My daughter was helping with the Wichita State Shocker baseball program and was asked to go get the curve balls. (she knows nothing about sports) She dutifully went to the supply room, was rummaging and someone asked her what she was looking for. When she told them, a funny look went over their face (this was a favorite joke of this asst coach) and he handed her a bag of the hollow practice balls. They were notorious for never going straight when hit. The whole team burst out laughing when she dumped them at his feet. It was a lllllllllooooooooonnnnnnnnnnggggggggg time before SHE got the joke.

So, if we now drop a compact flash card.................??

Just had a crazy flash before heading off to bed...

Wouldn't it be a hoot if each shirt had a "heraldry" on it, either in small letters of everybody on the shirt or each of us with a personalized one?

For example:

"Don, of Peeley Cat"
"Holly, of Avatarless"
"David, of Cash Poor"
"Derek of East ender" with "Stan of West ender"
"Craig of Liason land"

and more that will probably keep me up all night tonight;)

I'm not going to even guess what y'all will come up for mine. In fact, I'll probably re read this post to morrow morning and live to regret it:D

Hi Group;

To add to the fun, how about a coat of arms, for each person, on the shirts ? It could be an official one ... for those whose families have one. Or, it could be a made-up one for others. I'm posting one for my family ... Flory is the German spelling, Fleury is the French, and Flora is the Italian.

Back in the days I worked at a local camera shop, a professor at a community college came in and asked me if I remembered two of his students who came in the day before to buy some black and white enlarging paper the day before. I said yes, and instead of buying a 100 sheet box each they figured it would be cheaper to get a 250 box and divide it between them. The prof told me they were doing just when he walked into the darkroom. He said they thought they were really smart in saving all that money and the problem was they had not turned off the white lights before they opened the box of paper. They said it was OK because they haven't used it yet!

Also when I was in the navy in the sixties we use to send the photo newbies up to the photo lab storeroom to get a box of F stops.

I once asked the question "what metering mode (spot/centerwieght/matrix) should I be in when I'm on M" to the platform speaker (Will Crocket) during our state convention. There was about 600 people there.

Ok, I'm working on a design....

But, we can easily make it so that anyone who wants a shirt can have one (even those that are unable to attend).

BUT! we need our tag line. I had my "it was this, or rehab."

Holly just had a good one, any others?

Also I was thinking golf shirts? Or do we want just standard shirts?

How do you propose we get the shirts to everyone and printed in time?

Okay, Okay. Zack and I are trying to pull this together for us. IF YOU ARE REALLY INTERESTED IN A T-SHIRT, PLEASE LET US KNOW ASAP!

We will have to do this right away to be done in time, so please reply! We will use some ideas from the thread for the tshirt, and don't have time to negotiate on ideas at this point, so we will post by the weekend the tshirt design. Oh, and this is pending ok from Jack (PLEEEEASE say yes!)

There was word that Al Hopper was working on this, is there any news on that?

Folks,

Slow down a bit. You HAVE to talk with Al Hopper.
As any owner of intellectual property, PPA protects it's mark, as we have to, to protect it.
As no one can copy your photos, you can't use the PPA logo willy nilly.

I don't see any problems, but you do have to clear this all with PPA.

Jack

In 1966, when I was in Air Force Basic Photography school, one of my classmates dropped a roll of film. The instructor gasped and the kid asked "what did I do" ? The sgt. told him he had jarred the film and the images were all out of focus and he would get a failing grade for the day.

When the objective of a photo reconnaissance mission was cloud-covered, the old guys would send the newbies to the supply cabinet for a bottle of "cloud eradicator."

Ya, ya, got excited there! What I was really getting at was if people are REALLY interested in t-shirts or not, otherwise don't want to waste the time getting the go on it. If there isn't real interest, there is no reason to rush to try to work this out.

No worries Jack, :D

We were working on permission and wouldn't do it without it. ;)

...What I was really getting at was if people are REALLY interested in t-shirts or not, otherwise don't want to waste the time getting the go on it...Well I for one am interested. Preferably a golf style if given the choice, but does it really matter? Do we restrict who can get one. Normally I'd say no, but let em at least have X number of posts.

Thanks, Mark.

We ARE moving forward with this (with permission of course) and the wheels are in motion. We'll let you all know soon what's happening!

The issue with a golf shirt is that it's less conducive to a cutesy/playful saying than a t-shirt. With a golf shirt, you pretty much want a small logo and ourPPA.com and that's it. IMO, of course. I see value in both, to be honest.

How's about a half zipped sweater style (not to thick) long sleeved collard shirt with a small insignia on the left chest?

Boy the T-shirt ideas slowly becoming a clothing line thread! lol...

What's next boxers? whith a front print: "I click em in these"

Yeah, I like the golf shirt idea -- but would want something more toned down on that style of shirt than on a T....

Looks like for now there will be t-shirts only- but will only work with your help! We still need to know how much interest there is, so... if you know you would be purchasing an ourppa.com t shirt, please let me know know via email at Jackie@studiojphotography.net.

Pending responses, they may be available at Imaging and also by mail. Please let me know size (mens or womens), and option!

I'm so excited that we're going to have shirts there! It's perfect way for all of us to find eachother at the convention! :D

But everyone that is interested needs to get back to Jackie asap with a color, option (1 or 2) and size. We want to make sure there's a real interest.

No worries for you guys that can't come either! Since they'll do mail order you can get yours for next year! But, don't forget to send an email to Jackie! :D ;)

Personally, I like the idea of black, option 2.

Will they make me look fat?

Just get the black, it'll make you feel 20lbs ligheter. HEHE :p

You can get orange if you like,

Here is a message from Al Hopper:

We can supply orange also - however, wearing an orange shirt at Imaging USA means that people will ask you questions and expect you to carry boxes.

I'll take one in

One more time for me who is lost on this thread from trying to read it to quickly; what are the options for t-shirts? Is there a set design or is it a choose your own based on the available colors?
