Here is another high key image that was failed because of lighting. There were no comments in the judging feedback session that mannequins or dummies weren't allowed so was the image failed because of the subject or the lighting or both?

The subject of whether mannequins or dolls were allowed has already been discussed in another thread. The high key background appears to be well handled, but the lighting on the face still appears to be very flat. For a portrait, even when the lighting is high key, there should still be a clearly discernable lighting pattern on the face. This doll is very flat lit. This would be OK for a "quicky" light tent type commercial product image for a doll catalog, but as a demonstration of a well executed high key portrait, the image leaves much to be desired lighting wise.
