FREE Mentor Opportunity @ IUSA

To All PPA Members,
Have you ever wondered what you can do to help set your images apart? Have you ever just wanted a little private time with a PPA International Juror in order to pick their brain? I would love to give you that opportunity. I am currently scheduling times for the Mentor Booths at Imaging USA in New Orleans in January. This is one of those fabulous member benefits designed to help you improve your image making. Even if you don’t feel you are ready for competition, but you would like a little help to improve your daily work. This is the spot for you. It is FREE and all you have to do is contact me to schedule a time. Want more information? Want to schedule and appointment? Just e-mail me, Sarah Johnston. sljphoto@hotmail.com Please put “Mentor Booth” in the subject line. There are still several times available.
See you there!!

Cat, the first year I brought a laptop, the second year I brought prints and will be bringing prints again this year :) I found the prints to be much easier to work with.

Prints (8x10 or 8x12s) are easier and quicker to work from but a lot of people bring laptops or Ipads. If you are bringing a laptop have it booted up and PS loaded with your files when it is your turn as you do not want to waste your time waiting on a computer.

Great thanks. Another (maybe silly) question...should the prints be full out image or worked up like a comp print with background matting?

That parts really up to you Cat. Full frame is best for judging the image itself though.

Yes Sarah I did get it and I am sooo excited for you to tell me how bad I am! LOL Just joking.

You did get me extremely nervous when you said 10-12 images. AHHHHH I was thinking like 3. I am ordering prints now.

Actually Jeffrey you will meet with another PPA Judge. Several of us have taken different slots. So far we have 100 members signed up for the booths. I still have room for about 26.

Look for the 12 elements. what ones have strong impact and composition?
Here is a link to the 12 elements that are the core of PPA Judging. http://www.ppa.com/competitions/international/12elements.php
I would also go with a variety of the types of work you do. Landscape, commercial, kids, families, seniors...... Whatever you photograph.
Sorry I guess I am not being too much help, but I can not tell you without knowing what you do or seeing your work.
