I wasn't able to attend Imaging the last couple years, but I know that you guys all got to get together and meet each other. Have any plans been made yet to do the same thing this year? I'd really like a chance to get to meet you all face to face.

So, who is going, and when and where should we all meet?

Remembering the last convention in San Antonio - let's hope it won't be that way cool !!!
For those who weren't there last time - there was freeze and an ice storm - all the streets were iced over and the airports closed.

I remember that way too well...! What a mess. We managed to get out but had friends who were stuck there for days.

When I saw the the theme for this year it kinda had me worried that they knew something that we didn't... "Imaging 2011 - Bring the Heat" - made me wonder if they were expecting another ice storm and were telling everyone to bring heat along with them 'cause it's gonna be cold there again !!!

Yeah...my wife was ready to shoot me. Brought all these fancy clothes for the banquets and award ceremonies we had to go to. Formal stuff not intended for cold weather walks. Froze our tails off getting to the different venues.

I did learn from the other Texas convention that a short walk in Texas isn't necessarily a "short" walk by my definition. That short walk across the river was more like a hike in Austin.

Bring snacks along with you - last time they only had one small concession stand and the lines were a mile long for that $18 hot dog !

Shall we try for one of the days during the EXPO, since there seems to be alot of time given for visiting it? Anyone know if there is anyplace where we can all gather and chat? Or is there anyplace nearby that is within walking distance, such as a coffee house that we could all get together at? I'm just throwing out suggestions, since I have no idea.

the hotel common space would probably work, since were all going to be in that area.
we should meet early maybe sat night, my guess is we'll want to get together a few times
so many to meet and talk to.

Last year we had a smaller meeting room with food and drinks....sponsored by Miller's.

why isn't ppa putting something together?
we don't need refreashments(although i guess it would be nice) just a room.

well unless a sponsor steps up we still need a plan
how is sat evening for everyone? now we need a place in the hyatt i would think
everyone should be there by sat for a early morning start on sunday

I'll probably miss the meeting unless the meeting is later in the evening - it's usually Saturday at around 5 or 6 PM - so it'll probably be over by the time I finish getting the Print Exhibit set up, all the signs up and fine tuned and ready for the Sunday opening ceremony. I probably won't get out of the convention center until 7 or so...

The obvious hotel is the Hyatt Grand (the headquarter hotel). For those not staying there, the address is: 600 East Market Street

Oh, BTW everyone - I just got my registation info and badge this weekend and the paperwork mentions that Miller's is sponsoring another Internet Cafe in two separate locations. Location 1 is in the convention center on the Street Level next to Imaging registration, and Location 2 is in the convention center on the Concourse Level near Room 214. Maybe we could all meet up sometime during Expo hours in one of the Cafe locations?

I'll try to meet everyone there, but I might be a little bit late with finishing up the print exhibit. Maybe they can hold off on the group photo until the end of the get-together ??
I'm hoping to have all the prints up by 4PM - 5 at the latest... The print exhibit opens at 9 AM on Sunday...
7 PM on Saturday sounds good to me... by that time, most of the really fun people will have had a couple of hours at the bar... so it should all be fun...

Aww, I don't get in until 8:30 Sat. night (my stupid flight was delayed... AGAIN)

Dave and I will probably get over to the Hyatt around 10:30ish, so we hope to run into some people then! (Staying at Hilton, so need to put luggage away first)

I've never met anyone, but considering the posts in this thread, look for big hair and southern accents.

My connecting flight from Charlotte leaves here at 4. I guess I'll be at the hotel around 9:30. PLLLLEEEASSSSSEEEE SOMEONE STAY TO SAY HI TO ME! I'm all by my lonesome and I don't know anyone.

Now that the football game is over, I think I'm going to head out for some sort of entertainment. Is the Hyatt thing still an option for drinks and general gathering?
