I passed my image review for recertification!!!!! As I was working on my images for recertification, I saw a post where somebody (I think it was Greg) said it would be helpful to see a passing portfolio.
As you review the gallery, I'd like to provide some insight into the image selection and thought process which went into the creation of this portfolio. First, with my specialty being Weddings, I selected the images which have been published in various bridal magazines (SE01, 03, 09, 10, 13, 14, 15, 16, 19 and 20). Next I went through all of my events over the last couple of years and picked out the strongest of the images I delivered to my clients and those I display on-line. After I picked those images, I started eliminating images. I got rid of the ones I didn't like or received any negative comment.
The final step was an attempt to round out my portfolio. In my mind, a wedding is a long day, filled with many details, and a wide range of required photographs. I wanted my portfolio to show the ability to capture as many facets of the wedding as possible. I made sure to include some Bridals, First Dances, Wedding Cake and Ceremony photos. I also made sure to include a variety of lighting situations. When I uploaded the photos, I used the statement of purpose to provide a bit more detail about the image. For instance SE08 was titled "Oops, Wrong Aisle" or SE02 was "First Dance"
With that said, I've posted my passing portfolio to my member gallery:
