Is anybody interested in starting a discussion of each of the 12 elements? Each week we could focus on a different element. People could post their questions or comments or even share images that illustrate that element particularly well. If there is interest I will take it upon myself to start the new thread each week with the next element.

I'm amazed you have the time to do this but I would be honored to. Thank you for offering.

Greg, It takes about a minute to type "The topic for this week will be . . ." so it's not a time committment on my part.

If you and I are the only participants it would be pointless. Lets hope a few others want to do this also.

I think it would be wonderful and would love to see what people have to say.

Ok, I am going to make each element a seperate thread, so if people down the road want to refer back they can look at the particular element they are interested in and not wade through a big long thread. Impact is so effected by every other element that I am going to save it for last. So Our first thread will be creativity.

more like four elements - air - earth - fire - water

Hey Keith, once we get into the real discussion do we have to be serious or can we get sarcastically stupid and have a good time with it???

I didn't think Jeff was old enough to remember the three elements. Thought that was for us old farts.

Hey! I am kind of old too! I still have more years shooting film than digital! Does that make me old? FWIW, I figured out that I entered my first print in 1989! Doesn't that make me old??

Yeah, Matthew Brady and I talked about the three elements many times... My first competition print was back in 1889... (actually - it was 1979 - and I still remember the print case scores - at PPA National - 79, 79, 79, 79.)

Jeff

Been in photography in one form or another since 1973. Started out working as a lab rat for my Dad and worked my way up to hanging out of helicopters with the doors off.

But...I didn't find PPA until the late 80's. Hung around the local state association awhile before I entered my first prints in 1991.
