Do I need a camera at the convention?

Greetings All,

I know this is probably a silly question for a photographic event, but do I need to bring my camera and equipment? I am a first-time attendee. With all the hoopla about airport security issues, I an wondering if is worth bringing my camera. I really don't want to arrive at the airport and have security tell me I have to check my camera bag as luggage.

Seriously, is shooting in the sessions encouraged? Allowed?

Any guidance would be appreciated. As an aside, where should I go to hear some good bluegrass?

Generally, in the programs, photography and videography are not allowed. In some of the pre-con programs they may have shooting planned, so for those, you should check with the write up provided for that class to see what the instructor has planned.
