Austin we wanted to have the a sense of the area so we had local musicians as models for the expierence....Miami is about fashion....so prepare for the models.....We will be emphasising light and composition for the capturing and the work pods will be focused on Sales, marketing , intense photoshop tract, painter and where ever else you want to take it....

We are also proud to say we give back to each comunity we paly in. Monday afternoon in Austin, mentors and attendees created images for the women particiants of Dress for success and Millers Lab stepped in and donated $2500 to the cause.

We were also fortunate to have Ralph and Cyndi Romaguera present a short program on Operation smile. After Dark donated all of the proceeds of the t shirt sales and Millers once again stepped in and donate $2500! After Dark helped raise over $4000 for operation smile.

After Dark is about the complete expierence..

Entirely WAY too much footage (is that term appropriate anymore) of Dinger in the first video. You made it look like he actually DID something there. It must have been staged for the camera.

Just kiddin. He's a hard working trooper.

Fuz, you are right...it is part of his support program when he is trying to get off the meds.....we try to be supportive.....

Dave,

Do you stop for fuel (meals) or rest (some sleep)? Some of us might be more aged than you!

Not at all similar to any 4-5 day workshop?

Is depositing at Imaging January too late for an early discount? Having NOT looked at the website about registration, lazy me!!!

Maybe I should combine a vacation at my sister & husband's place west and between Sarasota/Ft Myers, then over to Miami! However, I'm trying to do that in January & to Nashville!

Having experienced the 1st After Dark in Austin I can honestly say it was Amazing and an Amazing experience!

This one will be even more so as it is 3 days instead of 2! I can't wait to be a part of Miami.

Dave_Junion

It will be good...

new mentors just announced to the already strong line up....

Chuck Arlund http://www.arlundimagery.com/

We have gone international...Martin is from spain and will be promoting after dark through out europe..this is getting kind of bizzare.....

Any idea when/where the next one (after Miami) will be? I want to go so badly but I'm having my baby in March!

Thanks!

Dave_Junion

Ashley....congratulations.....well...ahh...we need maternity images....smile....

Minneapolis end of may....

Also, I looked at the list of mentors for Miami and have taken my name off....I will be there and helping but the educators coming blow me away and I want to sit and hang with them and learn! . I am looking for a new edge for my portraits which Is why I am hoping to hang out with wedding guys to help influence my normal portrait work. Then throw in the commercial fashion shooters we have coming there will be no sleep.....

we still have 5-6 more mentors...we were only going to have 25 in Miami but we just do not care....we will most likely end up with 40 mentors....

Just going to the mentors web site looking at their work has been a huge education in itself. Each of the mentors bring a strength in capturing, however, they all bring their knowledge of sales, marketing and production systems with them. Only half of after dark is the capture..the other half is how to run your studio once you have the image. It is about expanding your comfort zone....Watching a wedding shooter to improve your skills with children. Listening to multiple mentors compare their marketing strategies so you can create a personalized solution for your studio....and just making new friends.

and it gets better...Marilyn Sholin is in on the artistic side as a mentor...

and, I have been waiting to let everyone know about this.

Bill Sorenson is a mentor in Miami!!!

If you do not know who Bill is do some research. The man is a marketing and sales guru in the photographic industry. He ussually only holds exclusive limited attendee workshops how ever we have convinced him to come and play in Miami.

http://www.wealthinphotography.com/ > this is info about bill from his workshop promotion.....

this just keeps getting better......

I just got a note from Larry Peters and he is planning on spending after dark miami underwater capturing images. From Larry:
I am so excited about the possibility of doing an underwater shoot at After Dark. I think the attendees may want to get involved so.... Tell them to have a bathing suit, please, and a mask to get in the water to see whats going on. If they really want to get involved bring some type of a weight belt so they can stay underwater, underwater cameras are advised if they want to capture images, check it out before you get there knowing how to use it before you get in the water is a good idea. Eddie Tapp has agreed to adjust and manipulate the files that I take and it will also be advisable for attendies to watch this process. He will be using Lightroom to adjust the files. I think anyone serious about what we are doing will get an eye opening experience.

- Waht a great opportunity to create....

Mark, It was great to see you at imaging....prepare..Miami will be.....

I had the pleasure of meeting Chuck Arlund this week. the man makes me feel like I am sleeping he has so much energy. Doing senior portraits so long I feel I have gotten into a "senior" mode and one of my goals for after dark is to hang with the mentors that do not do seniors. I am looking for new.....ideas from the wedding and comercial world. Chuck is definitly on a different plane. check out his site at:
http://www.arlundimagery.com/
then come play with him at After Dark Miami.

Hi Dave:
Thanks for the information. You sent m about After Dark Miami. I registered for the hotel, but when I went to register for After Dark Miami, in state category VI or Virgin Islands is missing. Puerto Rico is listed but that will not help with processing my credit card. Do you have any suggestions. Thanks Denise

Cool, it will be nice to see you there.

Now do your homework.... Make a list of all the things you want answered while there and who you need to see to get the information.
And while there, don't be shy. It's one big learning/sharing experience for everyone. :D

Denise_Bennerson
01-21-2010, 05:12 PM
Thanks Dave for your help in registering and your welcoming remarks :)
Right now I am pretty excited about the whole concept and learning new strategies. I would like ideas of how to decrease my workflow from capture to product. I am putting some things in place but I can use some more ideas. And with my new gallery studio (a year-and-a half old) I can use ideas of a smooth workflow for special events.

I am also interested in meeting some photographers who would like to come to St. Croix US Virgin Islands to do workshops similar to what they do stateside. Cost is one of the major factors; maybe someone who is sponsored and need a different place will consider. We have beautiful island waiting to be discovered. Presently, I am planning a photography workshop here for February 20, 2010 and I will be the presenter.

Anyway, I just wanted something different and this seems to fit the bill. Do keep me abreast of all the events because I don’t want to miss anything and I look forward to meeting you and wish you continued success.

After Dark in Austin was the best seminar I have ever attended...if you can actually call it that. It is so different I wouldn't really put it in that category. It was the most amazing way to learn with so much hands on experience.

I am SO EXCITED about coming to Miami. AfterDark here I come!!!

One of the coolest things about Miami...Lori Nordstom is coming to play. I got to play with Lori recently and created a completly new vision on how to approach pregnant woman....and it works great!

I was at Jeff's studio a few years back and he invited me to watch a sales session of a five year old girl....At the closing of the sales sessions he calmly said...that will be $27,000, how many credit cards would you like to put that on. the next sale session latter that afternoon he mentioned it was a mother- daughter and not to expect as much...he was right...it was only $17,000. The man knows sales techniques. THe thing about Jeff is that he has adapted to the economy and has made it work for him....He may not have the coolest action set but I would put his stock portfolio against anyone in the bussiness...He knows how to sell.

Between Bill Sorenson and Jeff Lubin......and Rachel and Travis...It might be better to leave a camera at home and just focus on the bussiness end............

Remember. The mentors are available for the complete expierence. The grids states when they will be teaching their specialty how ever, you have access the whole event...you can not be shy...you just have to ask....or find an assistant and they will set it up for you.... In addition to the pod time you will also get answers 2 hours on Monday and Tuesday at the mentor meet and greet.

Sunday night is going to be a relaxed intro night. We want everyone comfortable with what is happening. There will be Intro's to radio poppers so everyone will up to speed....meter domes.... demos on the photogenics.....walk throughs on all of the Denny backgrounds and equipment and Midwest photo will be on hand for any camera/lens questions...

play hard....

BTW, I didn't sell much product at Austin, so at Miami I will be charging $25 per answer. The neat thing is you can ask me all the questions you want, but if I answer, it'll cost you $25.

I'll answer any questions except:

1) Where do babies come from?

2) What is the secret to photography?

We are fortunate to have Mike come and play again...

To get an idea of what is happening in Miami keep up on the facebook updates...it will give an idea of what is coming to the next events in Minneapolis, Portland and New Orleans.....

The mentors are so wired about this....

http://www.facebook.com/afterdarkedu

For everyone attending we are setting up a server for a group share. YOu will be able to share and take images. files, marketing pieces.....instead of trading wallets we will be trading files on a wireless network....We want to maximise the expierence with everything we can...

Dave_Junion
03-18-2010, 04:57 AM
One of the things that blows me away about After Dark is that we have 35 mentors. In addition to the 35 mentors, we have an additional 17 "guest" that are coming just to play that could have been mentors. That is over 50 speakers just hanging out want to share with anyone around....it does not get any better....

Dave_Junion
03-18-2010, 06:09 AM
Just found out Hanson Fong is going to stop in Sunday night just to hang out...

BLair Phillips will be there the whole event...

Lizbeth is coming to play.....

Tom Munoz .....

Julieanne Kost from adobe......

Dave_Junion
03-18-2010, 05:58 PM
no excuses....We are going to have about 150 attendess. 50 educators....that is about a 3 to 1 ratio.....this will never happen again.....

There is such a bizzare excitment building...this is new....all these mentors are excited about it...no one is quite sure of what is really going to happen...

It does not get any better....With all of that energy in one area...it will be kind of cool.

happiness...
