View Full Version : Austin After Dark Oct. 11th-13th

07-24-2009, 04:07 AM

We are wired to get to Austin and make this happen. With ten studio bays, unlimited location set ups, 10 small group pods and 40 educators ready to share everything they know it is going to rock the industry. The afternoons we will be working side by side creating for local Austin Charities. At night anything goes. Instead of wanna be models, Local musicians will be the subjects for our cameras. The idea is to get real people to create real life scenerios.
A great day today. Eddie Tapp < http://eddietapp.com/blog/ > has joined the After Dark team of mentors. There is nothing I can say about Eddie that has not already been said. We are going to rock photoshop.
Also Thorsten Ott from Seatle has also come on board. Check out Thorsten's work at http://www.zeroplusplus.com/ and http://zeroplusplus.blogspot.com/. this will add an edgy commercial feel to those looking to expand their comfort zone.

ALso, just wanted to explain the full access $400 pass and the limited access $200.

Full access you play anywhere you want. the limited acces will give you everything but the studio bays. So, With the photoshop, design, sales and marketing the $200 limited pass is a steal for the educators showing up...Eddie tapp in photoshop..Jen Hillenga doing design, Julia Radlick doing pro select, Angela carson on surviving the economy, Rachel Marten on marketing and sales, Travis on everything because he will not stop talking...ever...and it goes on...

prepare to play....

I just finished talking with PhotoVision. They believe that this is so new and cutting edge that PhotoVision will be coming to Austin to be a part of After Dark! IT is a great feeling to see something like PhotoVision so excited about creating new, inivative educational events.....

This just keeps getting better

So, where do we find the schedule? So many great names; only three days? How does one get the most from the time allotted?

I've just registered. Anyone else going who might arrive on Friday to play on Saturday before the other fun starts on Sunday?

Deb, we are working on a schedule. We want to avoid the platform approach so we are creating a time grid where each educator will be sharing their specific strengths for a specific time period. They will then be at the event working and sharing with other educators and attendees in small groups for the other time they are not scheduled. We are creating numerous small group work stations with couches all around the event center. The most learning I ever recieved at conventions was after the speakers, at night just hanging out with people smarter than me...and that is what we are creating. The chance to sit with some of the best in the industry to learn and play what you need to know, not a canned program from a platform.

The goal orientated approach is that you need to research the educators and what they do and come to after dark with a plan...find those educators that can provide the solutions you are looking for and work together in small groups to learn.

End of August we will have a schedule of who will be where and at what time. I am looking forward to having a number of educators work together and see what they come up with combining their talents and knowledge.

thanks for coming to play. We have started a facebook group http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=105546751300 for information and to recieve suggestions from attendees and what would make the event extroidinary for them.....

We are Wired!!!

We have committed to doing things different for After Dark. Monday and Tuesday afternoons the shooting bays will be dedicated to shooting for charitable organizations in the Austin area. Dress for Success and After Dark will be creating portraits of the beautiful woman of Austin participating in this program for their personal and professional needs.
It is important that what we do is not about just ourselves....to be able to give a special gift a back to someone in need at an event with such energy will be a good thing. Imaging working side by side with the mentors and your friends creating images of real people, in real time all for such a great cause.

thanks to everyone coming to play...

We are excited to have Don....his lighting is imaculate and will be a great expierence to watch him play.

We also just confirmed the Ralph Romaguera has joined the after dark community and will be a mentor in Austin.

It really blows me away the quality of individuals willing to show up and share in Austin...it will rock...

This is the link to the gallery Marathon Press has created for all of the photographers to upload. Please click on your favorite images because the photographer with the most views will be winning 4 full scholarships to the next after dark in Florida.
