I am considering compiling a vacation album for competition. I saw one done at HOA a few years ago and it was really lovely and won several awards.

The trip I wish to do this for has had several images merit through regular print competition. Would I be allowed to use them since it's in a different format?

No.
Was gonna just leave it at no, but it wasn't a long enough to let me post so - you can use similar images but not the same ones that were merited before.
