I have an adorable picture of a chubby naked baby looking sort of over his shoulder, and it has his tushie showing (all other parts are covered). I had an idea even for a title - "Chubby Cheeks" letting the audience/judges decide on which ones. I'd post it here, but I'm not sure whether I can even do that, though I do have a signed release form for the session. I'm just not sure whether it can be construed as porn, or if it is acceptable in portraits. Should I just skip the idea entirely?

Thoughts and input please, as the deadline for Mid-East Regionals is drawing near.

Thanks.

angela,
baby tush is not a problem.
if done tastfully. i've seen many prints entered throughout the years of woman full front exposure, so a baby's bottom would not be a shocker.
good luck with it.

Id be very careful here on the forums (either sharing or seeking CC) about this. What is allowed in the print comp salon and loan books (which nudity implied or explicit is not a problem) is not necessarily the same here. I'm not sure why but it is what it is.

Anyways, I think the general rule is that there should be clothing or fabric of sorts when you post.

Good luck.

Thanks guys. I just want to make sure that it won't be seen as child porn. I know that the laws are very particular (my husband was an expert witness as a computer consultant in a trial regarding finding it on someones computer). I also know that it is very common for photographers to take those types of photos for the parents, but wasn't sure if they ever made it into competition.

There are images of nudes entered in the competition every year. The human nude has been the subject of artistic endeavors for centuries, and if tastefully done, nudes do not present a problem, so a tastefully done baby photo showing a bare bottom should not be a problem, while anything leaning towards pornography or exhibiting bad taste should be avoided. Anything considered questionable is brought before the PPA-PEC to decide if it will be allowed in the competition.
