I am new to PPA & VERY excited about all that I have learned so far. I've come to understand that Certification has A LOT of benefits in my market so I'd like to increase my chances or passing the written test, the 1st time. is anyone familiar with the flashcard study system? http://www.flashcardsecrets.com/photographer/ Something about is sounds good yet something tells me to.. HOLD UP?

I'd like to know if anyone has any experience with this company AND I'd like advise on the methods others have or are using to prep for the written exam.

Thanks in Advance

I found this when I did a google search for "problems with Morrison Media LLC"
http://ctpexam.com/Convergence_Board/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=23

Just study this web-site Photography by Barbara Upton (http://wps.prenhall.com/hss_london_photo_9/).

I bought them thinking they would help, and was very disappointed. Some of them were verbatim from the "Photography" book, most were the same thing as a paragraph in the book, but the words rearranged, and then there were some very vague questions such as "explain xxxxxxx" and you had no idea of which part of xxxxxxx they were referring to. If you want something portable, I guess they're okay, but in my opinion, they are not worth the money. When I started seeing how similiar they were to the text in the book, it greatly turned me off from them. Overall, I did not find them helpful.

The "secrets" were more like basic test taking tips for standardized testing.

Hi Dallas;

Buy, and study the London and Upton book. Go through ALL of the Certification threads. If you go back in the archived threads there were a bunch of question and answer threads on the exam. You could find others close to you so you can study together.

Please change your avatar so your name shows. You can also add your full name so it appears at the bottom of all posts.

Dallas - RUN (do not WALK) away from those flash card systems. They are not a quality product, and often are not based on the most current information.

I studied very hard for my CPP exam - and I made my own flash cards. I found that by making my own, it forced me to examine things that I didn't understand, write them in the form of a question, and then come up with the appropriate answer. That process in and of itself was a great learning experience because it made the information stick. There are online study guides that go along with the London/Upton book, and I would recommend those as well.

You just missed my Super Monday last month - on studying for the CPP exam :)

hi Dallas... I also, have been studying for the CPP exam... I've been reading the Photograph 9 book, as others have recommended.. Also there will be a CPP class in Phoenix for three days prior to convention, taught by Al Di Campi... then you can take the test on tuesday. Also would love someone to study with... let me know if you'd like to start a study group.

regards

I must be a total goof because I cannot seem to find any other threads on the certification exam other than the six listed here. Am I looking in the wrong place?

If you look under the listing of threads, there are 3 drop down boxes - the 3rd allows you to select from how far back you want to view posts. As you go further back, you'll see more posts appear.

Hi ptp;

You need to go into the archives under Certification. Drop down the menu and click "from the beginning". That way you can read through all certification threads since we started in summer of 2005.
