If you have a chance to go to Wichita to do this, I highly recommend it. Stan has taught me LOTS!

Stan has been much help to me as well, but I'm worried about him flying around Kansas. I'm afraid someone might drop a house on him. :eek: :D

Seriously though his branding, marketing and networking instructions are top notch. :cool:

Hi Stan;

I'm trying to picture you ... wearing bib coverals with a red checked hanky hanging out of your pocket with a pitchfork in your hand. They won't know you when you get back to California. :D

Gee, D Craig,

I've lived here for about 10 years and haven't seen anyone fitting that description. Wichita is about 500,000 population. Around here, they're oilmen. aircraft employees and if they live outside the city limints, they're cattlemen on real horses that round 'em up. bibs don't do so well on horseback or on the Spirit/Boeing/Ratheon/Cessna/Learjet/Bombadier/Hawker Beechcraft lines.

We're also the home of Koch Industries, the largest privately owned company in the nation, possibly the world, the starting place of Applebees and Pizza Hut (the founder is still found locally after selling off and starting Papa Johns) plus the new home of the Gordon Parks collection at Wichita State University.

Please don't tell me you're another one of those who know the east coast, west coast and it's just a gray area between???

Hi Linda;

All I know is from movies, like State Fair, and from driving Interstate 80 in 1970 when I drove home from California to Pennsylvania. All I remember from that is it was all flat and no speed limits. You know, when cruising about 105 it goes by pretty quickly. So, it's not all like in "State Fair" ? :D

You know I'm kidding. That's like saying everyone here in the Pa. Dutch Country is Amish and drives a horse and buggy. When I wrote that about Stan I was picturing, in my mind, an image in a book I own by Jack Reznicki where he was posing like "the American Gothic" repleat with a pitchfork in his hand.

Interstate 80 and State Fair are both in Iowa. <g> I can now refer to you as a West Virginian.

Sorry I didn't get to this sooner, just got back from Florida.....actually if you replace the coveralls with a double breasted suit, and a 36 in Louisville slugger instead of the pitchfork, you'd be right on the money......;)

ps

Linda, I forgot to mention, I will need a bat (preferably wood, I can work with metal) for the seminar. Thanks......:cool:

A bat, huh? I think I can arrange that.

D. Craig, you should come and bring an Amish hat for Stan. We could make it a cultural happening!

Hi Linda;

Andie Goodman lives in Lancaster so she is closer to the Amish than I am. Maybe you can get her to come ... and bring an Amish Hat along. ( I know she will get me for writing that when I see her at our April Pa. meeting :p )

Amazing, but we have Amish here, too. Quite a community just a few miles nw of here. The roads are paved much wider to accommodate their horse and buggies.

Stan . . .

WHHHHYYYYYY Witchita and not Daphne, AL???????????????? I would LOVE to come hear you speak but I am photographing the Confirmation for the Catholic Church that very night here in town and darn it, they just won't move it to accomodate my schedule!

But, for all of you out there who haven't had the pleasure of hearing my friend Stan speak, I strongly encourage you to find a way to get there to hear him! It will be well worth the time and energy to go!

Sad here in lower AL . . .

"WHHHHYYYYYY Witchita and not Daphne, AL????????????????"

Funny thing, my whole life I've always wanted to visit Daphne, Al....I'll be in Kansas (Overland Park) on business, so a side trip to Witchita was do-able....I did wave as I flew over last week.....;)

Just a note from two former Californians. Stan is a great teacher, speaker and business person. He is funny, entertaining and being a great sales person and marketeer, he will have you "sold" on techniques that will help you build your business during these challenging times. We never miss a chance to hear him speak. Don't pass up this opportunity.

I'm sure the Greater Kansas City PPA folks would be more than welcome in Witchita.....I hear they're very hospitable....;)

Due to extenuating circumstances (a fill all reasoning that fits), the Stan Lawrence marketing seminar in Wichita is being postponed.

The NEW DATE is June 18th.

I have talked to those who already have prepaid and they're cool with that so please, remark your calendars and contact me to get you on the list.

I have the baseball bat ready, not sure if it's the right style but hey...I was into volleyball and my kids played soccer.

I am SO PUMPED about being able to sponsor Stan and so looking forward to showing him a bit of Wichita. Of course, the seminar could never have taken place in January, too cold here for a San Diegoan.

Our staff would get full of sighs when his images of families on beaches with sand laden bare toes while snow and ice were outside our door. You could 'hear' the images going through order entry, color correction, printing and then the canvas mounting and on to shipping. I think they'd prefer WE went THERE.

So June, in Witchita.....rain, shine, heat???? :cool:

Stan,

June in Wichita should be just like home!

I feel like I am coming into the thread late- but I also encourage anyone that can to attend Stan's seminar. It's a kick in the pants- just what we all need sometimes- and Stan has a great personality to motivate you.

Just talked to Linda, have a couple of spots open for next week in Witchita.....I'm looking forward to meeting everyone....for those attending, please leave your cc at home, I have nothing to sell. Unless, of course, you're buying lunch.....;)

You mean your don't preach you-can-be-just-like-me IF you have 12 assistants and $20,000 of equipment that I happen to have for sale behind you???

Ok, a Wednesday? Really guys...*sigh* Now that I have been around and through and around Wichita recently (yesterday), I know I can just run up there in a couple hours.

But not on a Wednesday!!! Ugh...*stomp stomp stomp*

"You mean your don't preach you-can-be-just-like-me IF you have 12 assistants and $20,000 of equipment that I happen to have for sale behind you???"

Funny thing.....when I was on the circuit I sold a set of seven videos....all of which were covered during the seminar....sold fairly well, just a little out of date now....so folks just have to take notes....;) Dea, sorry you can't join us, we'll miss you....:cool:

Dea, not Wed because of your daughter? Lemme send MY daughter down. She'll get her there! Honestly. After rooming with you for how many nights, I know you'd get so much out of this and it's NOT a leader to later costs. I HATE those.

Stan_Lawrence

"IF you have 12 assistants"

Hmmm.....they weren't referring to a jury, were they? ;)

Well, the Piets, Stan and his 'chauffeur' are either on their way or already back in KC (Stan to catch a flight tomorrow back to San Diego) and I'm home, trying to remember what home IS. Been on the go too much the past month!

The class was great. No way to explain it more than that, it was great. Now to apply. I have no doubt I will apply and be a successful photographer very, very soon.

For you that couldn't make it, I'm so sorry! I never would have thought a day long class on marketing would go so fast and be packed with so much useful information.

If Stan ever teaches another class, pay the plane fare to get there.

The workshop was fantastic. Loved every minute of it!! Thank you Stan and Linda. I learned so much. Now I just need to apply what I have learned. Dave and I already have plans to start tomorrow.

Thank you again! It was a pleasure meeting Stan, Linda, Robin and everyone else.
