Another thread about prints...just what you needed.

I entered 0019 in our 2007 ppwv fall comvention and scored pretty well ...."cough...cough..best of show..cough..." but I feel I can score even higher with one of the other images. I really like the window images, but I am unsure to enter it as is or with a stepmount. Color, BW, stroke...Thoughts, ideas???

keep in mind most of these are the raw files, so artwork will be performed on the final files, I am just needing feedback on the selections..

I actually like 19 the best. I really like the others, but 19 just feels different to me. If I chose one of the window images, it would probably be 51 or 57.

Thank You Heather for responding, I like them also...you are very kind.

#19 is the best, as you've already found out! The others don't have the impact that that one has.

Hmmm. You remind me of me.:) After scoring very well on a particular image, I ask my wife to take others from the same session back to a local Master so he could help me pick another winner. When she got home, I excitedly ask he "What did he say? What did he say?" She dropped her head a little and replied "You're probably not going to like it". Figuring he probably only found 3 or 4 more merit images, I said "I can take it...what did he say?".....Ok, says she, he said to get off your butt and do something different.:D
Best competition advice I ever got.:D :D

19 as a magazine cover with text. 51 without text.

Hey Will,

The framed ones are different because of the window frame but the frame are the same reason why they might not do as well. The way that I see it on screen is that the frames distract (and cut into) from the mohawk dude.

19 is ok, but I think it would do better if that line above is taken out or blended since we don't see where it turns and it isn't really part of a frame him either.

Good luck!

Since you got a Best-of-Show last year with this subject there will be a whole bunch of copy cats this year trying the same thing. You should go after another subject to keep your competition guessing!

I prefer 19 but I agree that it is time to photograph another image...can be the same person but a new image. IMHO.

Back in the days a film, I knew a photographer that boasted he was getting his Master's all from one roll of film, ballerinas in a beautiful location. No one respected him too much. Listen to what these other people told you and do something new.

Will my favorite is # 51. I like the angles and how the light falls on him.

haha ok Keith, I have been too busy working to keep the lights on to photograph comp images and do "too much" artwork. I will slow down and take time for some new images this summer.

A nice set, Will, but I'd reconsider the toning on the last one. I don't find the blue to be adding to the image.
