Any thoughts on this image?

Cool Cat! I would try this in BW. All the different colors are a bit distracting.

This is the Black and White version of Bart.
I also have another image of Bart, but it is way to close to another that did well in NH last year to compete with.
Thanks for your comments,

How about cropping it a lot tighter - something like this

Rick nailed it ! Now for a dynamite title. What popped into my head was "Marbles". I used to play marbles as a kid back in the early to mid 50's and the eyes remind me of "cat's eye" marbles.

Hi D. Craig,
I will likely have to reshoot for that much of a closeup on the eyes for a 16X20 print. Bart is usually a cooperative subject. I like the idea and will give it a try.
What do you think of this variation? Title "Night Eyes"

I should have included you in the reply.

the Night Eyes version is GREAT !! I really like the cyan tint - I'd print it and send it in just like it is. I think it'll hang !!!
Also - you might not have to reshoot it - try writing an action to resize the image multiple times increasing the size 3-5% each time. You may have to run it a bunch of times to get the image up to 16x20, but you'll be amazed at how little detail you lose if you increase the size incrementally instead of taking one big step. Besides, you're using a mat, so the actual image won't have to be the full 16x20 size - onlya portion.

Thank you. I will try that with the image before sending it to the lab. The NH convension will be my 2nd competition. I have a few others to work on.

I think you got it!
Looks great, nicely done.

John, I much prefer this version to the version that goes all soft in the middle. That being said, I would be tempted to darken the corners under the eyes and the space between the eyes to focus attention on the eye. Not obnoxiously, to make it obvious, but subtly. It's a really nice image.

Thanks in advance.
John nice image ... in the upper portion of the right eye near the pupil, the is an obvious cloning or painting area..blend it in with surrounding a little more.

I see what you mean. I had retouched the original a while back. I will fix that before printing.

I don't know a lot about cats. His eyes don't seem to be a sphere. They have flat places in around the iris. This is how I see it. But that is just me. An eye has to have light around iris to project it forward. I use brightness in cs to bring out the color.
